"Taffy"

A few weeks ago a friend of mine lost her beloved cat of eighteen years, Taffy. I don't normally do drawing of pets, but I couldn't say no. I know the immense pain of losing a fur-baby and anything I can do to help comfort someone who has lost their pet, I will do.

Taffy was a long hair orange and white cat with gorgeous green eyes and a pink nose. My friend asked me to do a drawing of her in black and white.

I attempted to dress up the photo with some cat toys. I had to take this picture quickly, before my little helper ran up to assist me.

And here's Vinny adjusting the angle of the phot as he runs to his toys, and I hurry to stop him mid click of the picture. He really loves helping me with my art projects :)

Something fun I like to do with my art is take photos of the artwork from different angles. This not only helps in showing detail, but sometimes it makes the work look totally different. With this perspective it almost seems as if Taffy is glancing to the side with one ear pulled back.

As a fur-momma to two adorable boys (and two boys and a girl waiting for me in heaven), I know how a pet can steal your heart and how crushing it can be when they pass away. Sometimes a small reminder of them - a paw print, their tags, a photo, a work of art - can help in the healing process.

Have a great week!
