I hope everyone is having a wonderful 4th of July!
This year I decided to decorate my windows for Independence day with paper chains - a lot of paper chains.
At first I was going to create a flag out of the chains to go across the top pane. It would have looked good, but I already have a flag made out of a bow on the front door and a real flag in my flower pot. So I decided to do a traditional banner - hanging three down to cover the top panes. I didn't think it looked very good so then came option three - small chains hanging in rows. Once I started hanging them in the window I knew I had made the right choice.
This project took me back to my elementary school days and was so much fun. I didn't worry about making each strip the same size. I just estimated and made adjustments if I cut a strip way too thick.
All that was left to do was tape the two ends together then slide in the next strip. After doing that eight times, a row was made. This was quick and easy and fun. The great thing about this project is people of all ages can do it. And it isn't just for windows. You could hang it on your kitchen bar, on a staircase railing, in your kids room above their bed...so many options.
You may be wondering why I didn't hang the chains the entire length of the window. There are two reasons why. First, I love sunlight and I didn't want to completely obscure the brightest window in the house. Second, and most important, my two fur babies. They are strictly indoors and they love to sit in a window and look outside. They especially love to watch the lizards (If you look closely at the first picture you'll see a little lizard on the right screen).
What did you do this 4th of July?
Happy Independence Day!

P.S.
I should go ahead and introduce you to Bogie (in front) and Bryce. They are a huge part of my life and you will hear about them from time to time.
