I love changing up my jewelry but it can get expensive. A quick and easy way to create "new" jewelry only takes a little bit of glue and a colorful napkin or paper - no tools required.

Napkin or decorative paper.

I chose pretty bee and nature-inspired napkins and floral paper. I found it easier to work with the napkins and the final product ended up looking better than the paper. However, I think if I had used scraps of wrapping paper, tissue paper, or softer paper (I used cardstock which I found was a bit too stiff) it would have worked just as well as the napkin.
Step One

Find a pair of old earrings to use for your project. I used wood ones I had previously experimented on, but beaded earrings will work as well.
Cut your paper/napkin slightly larger than the earring. If you are using a napkin, remove all plies until only the one with the print remains. This will make the napkin very delicate but that is part of what makes it adhere so well and look natural.
Step Two

Apply a layer of Mod Podge to the base of the earring and gently lay (or wrap if you are using beads) your paper on top. After they have had a moment to dry, turn them over and cut off any excess paper.
You will have to make a slit at the top where the post is hooked to the earring and then seal that with glue.
Step Three

Add another layer of Mod Podge to the top of the paper. If you are working with flat surfaces I would also put a layer of Mod Podge on the outer edges to secure it further.
Step Four

Wait for the glue to dry and they're ready to wear.
This is also a fun project for kids to do at parties, when you have a few napkins left from a gathering that are too pretty to throw away, or as a gift.

My cat, Vinny, decided he wanted to join the fun.
Have a great week!
