Butterfly Garden

This past Sunday a friend and I visited with each other for a bit after church. Normally we go to a garden by her house, but this day we decided to sit in the lovely butterfly garden around the side of our church.

I love the entrance. The carvings are so beautiful and detailed. The subtle colors remind me of a watercolor painting. Even though there are no walls, walking through the arch and into the garden changed the look of my surroundings completely and transported me to a place of peace and serenity.

In the center of the circle is this magnificent blue butterfly. I love the colors and the verse.

Benches surrounded the circle allowing for plenty of seating. We saw butterflies, caterpillars, lizards, and a tiny frog hopping across the brick. Although it was hot, it was a great visit in a beautiful space with a wonderful friend.

Cardinal

This is not the greatest picture - I had to take it fast, through a closed front window and between two very focused cats, before the cardinal flew away. This lovely bird's mate was in the grass nearby and they were close to their babies. Such an exciting moment for me and my two cats. He just looks so magnificent.

I am so grateful I live where I can go outside or travel near my home and have nature all around me - the Gulf of Mexico and wooded walking paths. If you get a chance, go outside and enjoy your surroundings. Really look at everything around you, you might be surprised at what you see.
