A Time Honored Tradition

It's that time of year again - The Kentucky Derby - and with that comes the time honored tradition of big, fabulous hats.

I Like Big Hats and I Cannot Lie

I love this hat - the colors, the ginormous feathers, the big flower. I would have worn this hat.

It is believed that wearing a hat to the Kentucky Derby brings good luck. For some, it was very lucky.

A Powerful Color

The color purple has often been associated with dignity, power, pride, grandeur - something these horses have in spades.

Garland of Roses

Red roses became the official Kentucky Derby flower back in 1904, although the first bouquet of roses, pink and white, were given to the winner of the 1896 race.

Royal Blue

Fascinators are often worn by the royals in England and many of the horses have been or are owned by royals, making this hat an exceptional choice for one of the most prestigious horse races ever.

A Little Sassy

I love this hat. I would have worn this one. Hot pink with poofs of flowers and a wide brim - you can't go wrong.

I love horses and fashion and tradition and creating these five watercolors in celebration of Medina Spirit winning the 147th running of The Kentucky Derby.
