"It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35
Do you remember the last time you did something for someone for no other reason than you wanted to help them? It's a pretty great feeling.
Have you ever done an act of kindness and no one knew it was you? It's pretty fun.

Leave a Little Something Sweet on a Co-Worker's Desk
This doesn't have to be candy (although that is always a big success). It could be something well thought out with deep meaning like an angel figurine or something as simple as a little post-it note smile. I like to do this when co-workers go to lunch so when they come back there's a little something waiting for them.
You could also do this at home. A note on the bathroom mirror, in a lunch box, a Hershey Kiss on a pillow...

Put a Carnation on a Car
Buy a bundle of carnations and go to your doctor's or vet's office and leave them on the windshield or hood of employees cars. If you have the time, go to friends and relatives homes and sneak a flower on their car then quietly listen with a smile as they tell you about the flower someone put on their windshield.
To make it even more special, attach a small note or verse or poem letting them know they are appreciated.
Mail a Card to a Stranger
The stranger doesn't have to be a name picked out of Google Search. Pay attention to the people around you. The stranger could be someone that lives on your street that you've never met but you've recently noticed people coming and going with casseroles and condolences. Or the lady at the pharmacy you see every month but don't really know, who just graduated, and you want to give words of hope to, but don't feel comfortable enough to do it face to face.
A card of encouragement, kindness, inspiration could be just the thing they need at that moment.
Give a Gift Card
A few years ago I opened my mailbox and found a blue envelope. When I opened the smiley face card inside the envelope a gift card to Winn-Dixie fell out. No signature, just a smiley face and a gift card. I don't know who sent it but I will never forget it and it came at such a time of need.
Add Change to the Meter
The next time you decide to go downtown, grab some nickles, dimes and quarters from your stash and intentionally walk by meters to see which ones are about to or have expired and put a little change in there.
Even the smallest act of kindness makes a large impact. Imagine how your life would change if you did something nice for someone every day. Try it for 5 days and let me know how it goes.
