5 Halloween Favorites To Watch

Halloween is only a few days away and a great way to get in the spirit is to watch something a little spooky-funny or maybe a little scary. Below is a list of my five favorites.

I'm going to start off with my all-time favorite Halloween movie. It's one I've been watching for decades.

Hocus Pocus

I don't know of anyone who hasn't heard of, or watched, this movie. But just in case you haven't, let me tell you about it real quick.

On Halloween night a candle is lit and the Sanderson sisters are brought back to life. Now they’re on a quest for eternal life and beauty. Sounds a bit scary, but this movie is full of adventure, music, laughter, and an awesome black cat named Thackery Binx (which is played by Sean Murray of NCIS).

I LOVE this movie (and cast) so much. I never get tired of watching it. It is what I will be watching Halloween night, just like I have every Halloween for the past 25 years.

Psych

A little mystery, a little murder, a lot of laughter. That's what you get with Psych. Let me introduce them.

While watching the news, Shawn uses his attention to detail to solve the case. He calls the police and gives them a tip about the case and before long he's a suspect. Now, he has to use his skill at hyper attention to details to pretend to be a psychic to get out of trouble with the police. After proving his innocence and solving a case, the chief asks him to help work on another case and this was the beginning of the PSYCH Detective Agency - which he convinced his best friend, Gus, a pharmaceutical salesman, to be a part of.

This is a collection of 4 hilarious Halloween episodes. Hop onto Peacock TV or Amazon Prime and watch all the Halloween episodes from all 8 seasons.

Practical Magic

Another one of my favorites, with a stellar cast.

Gillian runs off to see the world. Sally finds love and creates a family of her own. Then tragedy strikes – twice. The sisters, along with Sally’s two daughters, have to move back in with the Aunts. Soon Officer Hallet arrives, investigating the disappearance of Gillian’s boyfriend, and the sisters become suspects. On top of all that, the people in town are fearful of them and the children in town show no sign of mercy as they make fun of the young girls, calling them witches. But one event, and a little practical magic, brings a group of women together, changing the town's view of the Owens ladies forever.

The Good Witch

The town of Middleton swears Grey House is haunted and is shocked when Cassie Nightingale moves into her ancestral home. Not too long after she settles in, she encounters two children who happen to be the Sheriffs kids. It takes time, but with Cassie's kind spirit and knack for helping others, it doesn't take long for her to win the town, and the Sheriff, over.

I love these Good Witch movies, and the series that spun off from the movies. There’s always a show of compassion, understanding, and kindness, all while dealing with life’s complications. It’s a good family movie.

Scream

High School is already scary. Now there’s a masked killer on the loose, picking teenagers off one by one. Even though a curfew has been enforced by the police, a group of kids get together for a party, of course. Safety in numbers doesn't imply here, and soon more people are killed and the mask comes off.

Unlike the other movies on my list, this one will give you a fright.

I hope you find something on the list to watch this week that will get you even more into the Halloween spirit.

Have a safe and Happy Halloween!

Rebecca ~
